In this article, I’m going to show you how to use AI to come up with great questions for your guests in a matter of seconds, not hours.

Let's get started!

Key Takeaways

  • Having a set of planned questions for your podcast guests can help you stay organized and show them that you have prepared for your podcast.

Why Is It Important to Come Up With Questions for Your Guests in Advance?

Having a set of planned questions for your podcast guests is important for a few reasons.

First, it can help you to stay organized and show your guests that you’re prepared for your podcast.

Second, it can help you to avoid running out of topics to discuss.

Third, it can help you to create a more engaging episode.

If you’re looking for ways to improve your podcast, then consider using AI to instantly brainstorm creative questions that’ll engage your guest and your audience.

How to Use AI to Help You Come Up With Great Questions for Your Podcast Guests

Let’s illustrate the power of AI to generate questions with an example. I’m going to use Jasper (formerly Jarvis), my favorite AI writing assistant tool, to create engaging questions for an episode of a fictional podcast about bitcoin.

I’m going to enter the following information into the Engaging Questions template inputs in Jasper:

  • Topic: “Bitcoin as a safe investment vehicle (10 questions)”

  • Audience: “traditional investors”

  • Tone of voice: “Helpful”

Now, let’s see what Jasper can do for us:

This is a great set of questions generated in just a couple of seconds. Imagine how long it would have taken you to come up with this amount of content on your own, one hour? Two?

Now, as you’re probably thinking, if AI can do this task it can probably do a lot more. So, below are some examples of many other aspects of content creation you could take advantage.

Other Podcast Development Areas You Can Speed Up With AI

Podcast script outlines

Here’s a Jasper template that you can repurpose to come up with script outlines for your podcast episodes in seconds. Again, all you need is to provide the AI with some initial guidance.

Here are my inputs for the Video Script Outline template:

  • Video title/topic: “7 common scams in the cryptocurrency world”
  • Tone of voice: “Helpful”

Let’s see what AI can do for us:

This is a fantastic outline for a podcast episode that talks about crypto scams with a crypto security expert as a guest.

Podcast marketing

If you need to come up with clever marketing copy to promote your podcast, you can use the AIDA marketing template. AIDA is a long established copywriting industry framework that stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action.

Let’s use the following inputs and see what we can get:

  • Company/Product name: “The Crypto Collective Podcast”
  • Product Description: “This is a podcast that teaches people new to the cryptocurrency world how to invest in crypto assets, including cryptocurrencies and nft's”
  • Tone of voice: “Persuasive”

And here’s the AI output:

Awesome! Good quality marketing copy generated in a matter of seconds. Plus you can re-run this template as many times as you wish to get different angles.

Intros for Podcast episodes

If you’re looking for a super fast way to create the intro script for your podcast episodes, you can repurpose Jasper’s Blog Post Intro Paragraph template as follows:

Inputs:

  • Blog post title: “Podcast interview with Jane Doe about what the blockchain is and how it works”
  • Audience: “new crypto investors”
  • Tone of voice: “Helpful”

Let’s see what AI can do for us:

Not bad at all. This could be used as is, with changes or as inspiration to build upon.

Podcast topic ideas

If you ever run out of topic ideas from your original brainstorm, you can always turn to AI to come up with a virtually unlimited field of topic ideas by repurposing Jasper’s Blog Post Topic Ideas template. Let’s give it a try with the following inputs:

  • Company name: “Podcast interview with Jane Doe about what the blockchain is and how it works”
  • Product description: “This is a podcast that teaches people new to the cryptocurrency world how to invest in crypto assets, including cryptocurrencies and nft's”
  • Audience: “new crypto investors”
  • Tone of voice: “Helpful”
  • Examples: “How to Invest in Cryptocurrencies”

Let’s see what AI can do for us:

These are great topic ideas, and you can generate as many as you want. Here are some more:

Titles for podcast episodes

Finally, let’s use AI to generate titles for individual podcast episodes. For this use case, we’re going to repurpose Jasper’s Video Titles template as follows:

  • What is the video about?: “Interview with Jane Doe about what the blockchain is and how it works”
  • Keywords to rank for: “blockchain”
  • Tone of voice: “Persuasive”

And here’s the AI output:

Great choices, and as you know by now there are plenty more where they came from.

Tips for Creating Great Ad Copy for Your Podcast Using AI Copywriting Software

Now, while AI copywriting output is impressive, it’s not always 100% perfect. Here are some tips so you can get the most benefit out of the technology:

  • Never trust facts and figures generated by AI. Sometimes they may be correct but a lot of times they won't. Use specific facts and figures as a placeholder for replacement at a later time

  • AI textual output (excluding facts and figures) will be bang on most of the time. But sometimes, they’ll leave a lot to be desired — this is new tech that’ll get better over time. In the meantime, if you’re not happy with the first output you see just keep generating new results until you find what you want

  • Finally, AI can write extremely credible copy about any topic you throw at it, and yet it doesn't “know” the subject matter itself. AI tools may write like a human, but they can’t think like one. So, you always need to be an expert in your topic when using these tools

Wrapping Things Up

The importance of pre-planning questions for your podcast guests cannot be overstated.

Not only will it help you come across as a better interviewer, but it will also ensure that the podcast episode is more valuable to listeners and doesn't devolve into a bunch of awkward silences.

I hope this article has given you some ideas on how to incorporate AI not only for generating engaging questions for your guests but also for all aspects of your podcast development workflow.
